We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to implement in-silico structural tools and processes in the areas of protein and antibody engineering. You will interact with a diverse team, liaising between software engineers, wet-lab scientists, bioinformaticians and data scientists, in a fast-paced environment. How you might spend your days:

• Designing, implementing, and evaluating in-silico protein engineering activities in support of a developing platform for antibody reformatting processes and optimization of therapeutic assets
• Collaborating with teams across the company to understand engineering challenges and propose solutions
• Preparing and authoring materials to educate colleagues, and communicate strategies, key findings, and implications
• Organizing, supporting, and collaborating with other team members to meet project deliverables and timelines

We’d love to hear from you if:

• You are a collaborative team player that can contribute to the design, execution, and evaluation of in-silico protein engineering workflows
• You are excited about the opportunity to integrate high throughput protein engineering methods with in-silico tools to solve real-world drug discovery problems
• You are enthusiastic about applying your expertise in protein engineering to improve the speed and quality of protein biotherapeutics development
• You are strongly self-motivated and work independently to identify project needs and follow that up with building and implementing solutions
• You have a PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field, or a MSc with 5+ years of related experience in a biological research setting
• You have excellent programming skills in Python, as well as a comprehensive understanding of techniques to perform in-silico protein structure design using tools such as Rosetta software suite
• You have working knowledge of antibody structure and function, and familiarity with techniques applicable to the molecular design, engineering, and experimental evaluation of antibody and/or antigen libraries for protein engineering purposes
• You have awareness of experimental analytic and biophysics techniques used for antibody characterization, e.g. size exclusion chromatography (SEC), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), light scattering (DLS, MALS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), isoelectric focusing (IEF), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), etc.

What we offer:

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $75,200 - $94,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
